Accessibility at Pelotonia

Commitment

Pelotonia is committed to providing an inclusive experience for all participants and furthering accessibility for all spectators regardless of ability, both apparent and non-apparent.

Website

Located at the bottom left corner on all pages of the Pelotonia.org website, the Accessibility Adjustments tool can be used to accommodate many visual, cognitive, and auditory needs to comfortably explore the site.

Parking

Pelotonia adheres to all ADA compliance requirements for parking and has designated ADA-accessible lots at each start and finish venue for Ride Weekend. For Opening Ceremony, all parking garages downtown near McFerson Commons are equipped with accessible parking spots.
Please advise that disability parking placards are required to park at these designated spaces to ensure they are utilized appropriately.
At each start and finish venue, there are designated accessible parking lots located near the venue infrastructure. Maps are linked below to assist with locating these lots.
  • McFerson Commons: Opening Ceremony location | 20-mile route start | 50-mile route start | 100-mile route start (MAP to be added soon!)
  • Abercrombie & Fitch Co: 20-mile route finish (MAP to be added soon!)
  • New Albany Schools: 65-mile route start | 30-mile loop start and finish | 90-mile route finish (MAP to be added soon!)
  • Kenyon College: 100-mile and 65-mile route finish | 90-mile route start (MAP to be added soon!)
If you need additional assistance, please let the nearest Pelotonia Volunteer or staff member know!

Restrooms

All Pelotonia sites throughout Ride Weekend and Gravel Day have ADA-accessible, flat-floor entry portable restrooms that are designated with signage.

Visual & Auditory

Pelotonia uses the following to ensure all participants and spectators can interact with instruction regardless of visual or hearing ability:
  • All Pelotonia signage is created with large print and highly contrasting colors for clear interpretation.
  • Closed captioning will be utilized at the Opening Ceremony program on all screens.
  • Each start wave for Pelotonia riders is coordinated by a color that is both shown visually and written in text to accommodate limited vision or color blindness.

Overnight Accommodations

For all participants staying overnight at the Kenyon College dorms for the two-day ride, there are ADA-accessible accommodations as needed. If you need accommodations, please be sure to note this on the dorm survey you will receive and Pelotonia staff will reach out to coordinate specifics.

What to Expect at Pelotonia Event Experiences

  • While Pelotonia does our best to accommodate the needs of all abilities at our sites and events, we want to acknowledge that there will be large crowds and loud environments that could be triggering to some individuals.
  • If you are attending the Opening Ceremony celebration, there will be multiple monitors throughout the site to be able to view the stage.
  • All Pelotonia sites have access that accommodates mobility needs, including ramps on curbs and ground-level entries that don’t require steps.
