A beacon of hope, the Pelotonia Research Center is an interdisciplinary research center, which includes the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology, named in recognition of Pelotonia’s partnership and philanthropic support for accelerating innovative cancer research at Ohio State.
The Pelotonia Research Center is an enduring symbol of the Pelotonia movement. The new 300,000+ square foot building at Ohio State is home to the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology and much more. This collaborative, cross-disciplinary center is proof that when we push ourselves, individually and as a community, great things can be achieved.
About the Pelotonia Research Center
Opened in 2023, this state-of-the-art research facility is located on The Ohio State University west campus in the Carmenton innovation district.
This interdisciplinary research center is designed to foster collaboration across fields — cancer, gene and cell therapies, AI, microbiome, and more.
The center is home to the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology and the Center for Cancer Engineering.
The Ohio State University and Board of Trustees honored the Pelotonia community by adopting its name for a new center of research — one of the most advanced research buildings in the country.
The Pelotonia Research Center houses over 100 labs and up to 1,000 researchers, spanning faculty from biomedical engineering, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, data science, and more — encouraging cross-discipline teams.
Research focuses within the building include immuno-oncology, gene and cell therapies, cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine, neurological diseases, AI applications in health, sensory biology, and social/environmental determinants of health.
By creating a centralized hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, the center accelerates discovery, enhances grant competitiveness, and strengthens partnerships across campus and industry — all driving innovation and progress toward Pelotonia’s goal of Ending Cancer.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Interdisciplinary laboratories enable scientists from across the scope of Ohio State research to collaborate and accelerate new discoveries. Two floors of the Pelotonia Research Center building focus on important Pelotonia-funded research including gene and cellular therapy, how the immune system has a massive role in fighting cancer, and more critical areas of exploration.
