Accessibility at Pelotonia

Commitment

Pelotonia is committed to providing an inclusive experience and furthering accessibility for all spectators regardless of ability, both apparent and non-apparent.

What to Expect at Gravel Day

  • Pelotonia strives to accommodate participants of all abilities, but please note that our events may include large crowds and loud environments that could be triggering for some. All Pelotonia events and sites are designated smoke-free environments.
  • Snow Fork Event Center is outdoors with no stairs, but terrain may be uneven and challenging for guests with mobility restrictions or aids. Accessible, flat-floor entry portable toilets will be available for all guests throughout the event.
  • If you or a loved one has any questions or concerns while on site at Gravel Day, please consult with a Lead Volunteer (all in bright blue t-shirts that read “Lead Volunteer”) or a Pelotonia Staff member, identifiable with a staff credential lanyard.

What to Expect at Gravel Day

Website

Located at the bottom left corner of the Pelotonia website on all pages, the Accessibility Adjustments tool can be used to accommodate many visual, cognitive, and auditory needs to comfortably explore the site.
All participants and Volunteers attending a virtual orientation can enable closed captioning to follow verbal instructions and dialogue in written format.

e-Bikes

With the growth of electric bikes and pedal electronics in the biking community, the use of these technologies is welcome in Pelotonia! Please note, though, that no fully motorized bikes which use a throttle are allowed on the Pelotonia route and all-electric bikes must have a freely operable pedaling system: rear wheel drive train of pedals, crank, chain, and gear system.

Parking & Restrooms

Pelotonia adheres to all ADA compliance requirements for parking and has designated ADA-accessible lots at Snow Fork Event Center. Please advise that disability parking placards are required to park in these designated spaces to ensure they are utilized appropriately.
At Gravel Day, there are designated accessible parking lots located near the venue infrastructure. Please visit the site map and follow the directions of parking staff to access these lots. If you need additional assistance, please let the nearest Pelotonia Volunteer or staff member know!

All Pelotonia sites throughout Gravel Day have ADA-accessible, flat-floor entry portable restrooms that are designated with signage.

Visual & Auditory

Pelotonia uses the following to ensure all participants and spectators can interact with instruction and festivities regardless of visual, cognitive, or hearing ability:
  • All Pelotonia signage is created with large print and highly contrasting colors for clear interpretation.
  • Each start wave for Pelotonia participants are coordinated by a color that is both shown visually and written in text to accommodate limited vision or color blindness.
  • Ear plugs will be available at the Check-In tent for individuals that experience sound sensitivity.

Overnight Accommodation

Light towers specifically placed on the campgrounds for those camping Friday night to provide light to restrooms and pathways while also avoiding harsh direct light into tents and campers/RVs. A headlamp or flashlight is recommended to help navigate uneven terrain and use restrooms after dark.

Nursing Parent Accommodation

We’ve incorporated important additions to the Gravel Day experience to support nursing parents participating as Riders, Runners, Hikers, Volunteers, or spectators. Please visit the Ride Weekend Support for Nursing Mothers page for more details!
