Sarah Yetzer Honors Late Husband With a Lasting Gift

| October 21, 2026

Sarah Yetzer’s connection to Pelotonia began in 2011, when her husband Eric was receiving treatment at the OSUCCC – James. Every time he went for a blood draw, he donated extra for research, inspiring Sarah to give her own time to the mission. That year, she volunteered at Rider check-in.

Eric passed away later that year, before his 34th birthday. Sarah stayed close to the mission in the years that followed, and in 2019, she also became a Rider.

“Riding is what truly solidified my connection to Pelotonia,” she said. “It feels like continuing what Eric started and helping carry the promise forward.”

This year, Sarah crossed the Ride Weekend finish line for the ninth time, completing the 27-mile route with Team Buckeye. Sarah rides for Eric, for her mom, who is a cancer Survivor, and for the friends, co-workers, and family members touched by cancer.

After learning about the Pelotonia Legacy Society, Sarah talked with her family and knew that a bequest through her will was the right way to extend her commitment.

“My passion is simple: to end cancer. I want to ensure that no one has to go through what Eric and I experienced,” she said. “Cancer is smart and it evolves — so the fight has to be thoughtful, innovative, and well-funded.”

“I truly hope that a cure is found in my lifetime. If that doesn’t happen, I want to help ensure the work continues without slowing down.”

By including Pelotonia in your estate plans, you can leave a legacy that will continue to make a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families for years to come.
