My family & I participated in Pelotonia last year. My son Matt, who was battling a rare form of testicular cancer, wanted to meet Lance Armstrong and volunteer. We followed his lead and raised $12,000 for cancer research. On December 14, 2009, Matt lost his battle with cancer but never without hope and a fight to the end. His courage and faith in God's plan never wavered. He is the bravest person I have ever met.
The Amaizin' Matt Domestiques will be seen on the road again this year. Matt was a leader in life and is still leading us to meet new challenges and live life to the fullest. He found happiness in the little things in life, never complained and met every day with thankfulness and a smile on his face. I was always proud of him but he truly amazed me in his battle with cancer. He was an inspiration to all that knew him and even to some that he never met but that followed his blog. It takes a special person to inspire others and he continues to do so.
I ride in loving memory of my son,Dr. Matt Uday. I will remember you always and make sure Ethan, your young son, remembers you too. May the money raised in this event bring us one step closer to finding a cure to help others.
