UPDATE 12/12/2009 I'm riding on behalf of heroes overcoming cancer(family, friends, Dublin neighbors, and thousands of beloved patients & their families!) who have inspired me with the power of the human spirit to overcome cancer. A person may have cancer, but cancer can't have them! I am also representing my grandmother (colon cancer), my uncles (lymphoma & lung cancer), my aunt(breast cancer), my buddy Dave-O (sarcoma) and our cousins; we are all for eradicating cancer in our lifetime! We want to support research for those patients and families in the midst of the battle!
I survived the 2009 Pelotonia event and had a great time! I'm officially a member of the 180-mile Pelotonia rider club. Despite the hills, the wind, and an ulnar nerve injury to my left hand I'd do it all over again! Whenever I felt I couldn't go another mile, to motivate me along the road, I recalled the strength, dignity, and perseverance of the many patients and families I have had the privilege to care for in my professional career.
Amazing things are happening at the James to cure and comfort those with cancer and I am privileged to be a part of the effort. I'm honored to ride for those who are unable to do so....
