My name is Lauren Fithian. I am a Senior at The Ohio State University majoring in retail merchandising and a member of the Ohio State Triathlon Team.

Last year, I rode the tough hills of Pelotonia for the battle against cancer. Being a part of the race was very inspiring and touched my heart knowing that everyone who was riding by my side collected money and was riding for a great cause.

This year I wanted to ride for Ryan Christian, 8-year-old daughter of the Missouri Mavericks hockey player Jeff and Dorie Christian. During my junior and senior year in high school, I babysat Ryan while Jeff played for the Youngstown Steelhounds. Unfortunately, Jeff was transferred and the family moved to Missouri to play for the Mavericks. This past February, I found out Ryan was diagnosed with pediatric adrenal cortical carcinoma, a rare cancer that affects one in a million. Ryan has touched my heart, at only eight years old I find myself looking up to her. She has such a great attitude and remarkable personality. On February 15, Ryan had surgery to remove her tumor and is undergoing her eighth and last round of chemotherapy at St. Judes Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. We are blessed Ryan is on her way to a strong, healthy recovery.

I live everyday to the fullest and hope to raise as much as I can to support Ryan and everyone who is battling cancer. I hope Ryan's smile and zest for life will inspire you.
